A Day in the Life: Head of Marketing & Corporate Communications
A Day in the Life of Unnikrishnan (Kris)G, Head of Marketing & Corporate Communications at Navigators Group
The day usually starts with a strong coffee in hand, while scanning through international logistics news, trade bulletins, and industry magazines. Staying updated on market trends is essential, and this early ritual sets the tone for the hours ahead. I then check messages from GCC offices, India teams, and overseas partners, which reflect the constant rhythm of different time zones.
From there, the morning unfolds into quick calls and chats with colleagues, aligning on shipments, customers, and shifting priorities. It’s a fast-paced exchange, but these touchpoints keep the team connected and coordinated. Soon after, focus shifts to creating marketing content, presentations, proposals, and communication support for the sales and operations teams. Each piece of work is crafted to strengthen the company’s voice and ensure clarity across all channels.
By midday, coordination with media, digital teams, and network partners takes centre stage. Brand visibility and campaigns demand attention, and even a short lunch break often doubles as an informal team catch-up. Market insights are shared, challenges are discussed, and laughter occasionally lightens the mood.
The afternoon is usually spent planning exhibitions, trade shows, or partner engagements, while also following up on ongoing projects. This is where strategy meets execution, ensuring that every initiative is moving forward. As the day winds down, there’s a final review of what went out globally — posts, messages, updates — before preparing for the next wave of time zones. It’s a cycle of communication, coordination, and creativity that defines the rhythm of a head of marketing and corporate communications.
